Approaching a roundabout
Decide as early as possible which exit you need to take.
Be aware of all the information available to you on your approach from traffic signs, traffic lights, road markings, Pedestrians and other traffic.
Always use the MSPSL routine on your approach.
Always signal your intentions in good time to give other road users early warnings.
Get into the correct lane when it is safe to do so.
There are still plenty of Roundabouts with only one lane on approach, here you should stay in the centre of the lane as you approach.
Treat a Roundabout like a yield junction. Your approach should always be to slow down and stop if necessary.
This will depend largely on how you observe and scan the roundabout as you approach, for users on the roundabout or users approaching from the exit immediately to your right .
When you reach the roundabout
You always give way to traffic approaching from your right.
If your Roundabout is signal controlled then you will obey the traffic light signal.
Most drivers do not know how to use a roundabout.
Most drivers signal incorrectly or do not signal at all. Therefore you should trust nobody.
Be aware of other road users particularly cyclists or motorcyclists to your left and right on your approach and while on the roundabout.
Depending on the traffic you see on your approach will determine wheather you need to stop or proceed.
Do not drive around in 1st gear, aim to select 2nd gear once you move off.
While on or exiting a roundabout
"View a roundabout like a clock, if you intend going
past 12 O'clock then you signal right as you approach the roundabout."
Taking a left turn- 1st exit
Using your MSPSL routine on your approach keep to the left or in the left lane if there are 2 lanes. Signal your intent early and continue signalling left to exit.Yield to traffic as necessary.

When taking 3rd or subsequent exits
Use your MSPSL routine on your approach. If there are two lanes on your approach keep to the right lane.
If there is only one lane stay in the centre as you approach.
If there are 2 lanes and you are exiting from the inside right lane on the roundabout, check your centre and left wing mirror, have a quick glance over left shoulder,
glance into the exit before your exit (observation glance) then signal your intent and make your exit.
Glance in your left wing mirror as you exit.
